In a bold move that’s sure to electrify the Sri Lankan market, Ather Energy has announced plans to expand into its second international destination – the island nation of Sri Lanka.
The Indian electric vehicle manufacturer is set to open its first experience centre in the upcoming quarter, partnering with Evolution Auto Pvt. Ltd., a joint venture between Sensei Capital Partners, Atman Group, and Sino Lanka Private Limited.
Evolution Auto will serve as Ather Energy’s national distributor, managing sales and service operations in Sri Lanka. But the partnership doesn’t stop there – Ather also aims to establish a network of fast-charging infrastructure across the country, making electric vehicle adoption a breeze for eco-conscious Sri Lankans.
Ravneet Singh Phokela, Chief Business Officer at Ather Energy, expressed his enthusiasm, saying “We are thrilled to enter the Sri Lankan market. Sri Lanka has been a part of our global expansion plans after Nepal, where we established our presence last year.” He highlighted the increasing preference for EVs due to the rising costs of petrol vehicles and the economic and environmental benefits they offer.
Zahran Ziyawudeen, CEO of Evolution Auto, shared his excitement, stating “Our mission at Evolution Auto is to pioneer sustainable transportation in Sri Lanka, making eco-friendly electric mobility accessible and efficient for all. We are incredibly excited to collaborate with an industry giant like Ather Energy to launch a world-class range of scooters in Sri Lanka.”
With a proven track record in Nepal, where Ather has set up 3 Experience Centres and 7 fast-charging grids since November 2023, the company is poised for success in Sri Lanka. In India, Ather boasts an impressive retail sales network with 208 Experience Centres and 1973 fast-chargers as of March 31st, 2024.
As Ather Energy revs up for its Sri Lankan debut, electric vehicle enthusiasts and eco-conscious commuters alike are eagerly anticipating the arrival of these high-performance, reliable, and stylish scooters. The future of sustainable transportation in Sri Lanka just got a whole lot brighter!
