IMF Team in Sri Lanka from September 10 for program review

A team from the International Monetary Fund will be in Sri Lanka from September 10 to 23 for the 7th review of its program, Mission Chief Evan Papageorgiou said in a statement. The 2026 Article IV Consultations will also be held at the same time.

“The IMF team will communicate its findings at the end of the visit,” the statement said. Sri Lanka has two reviews remaining in the program and the budget is due in November.

The 2026 Article IV Consultation will provide a broader assessment of Sri Lanka’s economic policies and outlook alongside the programme-specific review under the EFF.

The IMF’s country programme currently reflects an outstanding financial commitment of about SDR 1.76 billion as of March 31, 2026.
