Pakistan’s Prime Minister Imran Khan who’s currently on his maiden official visit to Sri Lanka has invited Sri Lanka’s business community to invest in the $46 billion China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) project.

He pointed out that the investments in CPEC would allow Sri Lankan businesses and exporters to reach Pakistan’s Gwadar Port City and Central Asian markets

He made these remarks at the Pakistan-Sri Lanka Trade and Investment Conference in Colombo today.

“Moreover, special economic zones have been set up too to incentivise different businesses,” he added.

The China Overseas Port Holding Company is building a $2 billion Gwadar Special Economic Zone, which is being modelled on the Special Economic Zones of China.
