Seven parties including China’s Sinopec have shown interest to build an export-oriented oil refinery in Hambantota, Minister of Power and Energy Kanchana Wijesekera tweeted.
Grant & Shearer Ltd from Nigeria, Petrichor Capital from Malaysia, Vitol Group from Singapore, and Martin Tejarat from Iran have also submitted their expression of interest (EOI).
Dandeniya Engineering Sales and Service Syndicate, a local company, and Sri Lanka’s Harree Management with UAE’s Marka Invest have also shown interest in the project.
The technical evaluation committee & other procurement committees will evaluate EOIs and issue the request for proposal to suitable applicants, Wijesekera said.
