According to Deputy Minister of Ports and Aviation Janitha Ruwan Kodithuwakku, Sri Lanka will begin a feasibility study on a multi-modal logistics center with railroads supported by the Asian Development Bank.

“This is a railway track-integrated cargo hub,” Deputy Minister Kodithuwakku informed lawmakers.

ADB will provide funding for the feasibility study.

To ease port congestion, an inland dry port would also be established nearby, he added.

According to him, the dry port will help lessen traffic in the city of Colombo.
