DIMO, the sole authorized distributor for TATA vehicles in Sri Lanka, successfully facilitated the delivery of 134 TATA Xenon Yodha cabs to the Sri Lanka Police, strengthening operational mobility and public service capabilities across the Northern Province.
The official handover ceremony was held at the Presidential Secretariat under the patronage of His Excellency Anura Kumara Dissanayake, President of Sri Lanka, and attended by Hon. K.M. Ananda Wijepala, Minister of Public Security, Hon. Sunil Watagala, Deputy Minister of Public Security, Mr. D.W.R.B. Seneviratne, Secretary, Ministry of Public Security, Mr. Priyantha Weerasooriya, Inspector General of Police, and Hon. Santosh Jha, High Commissioner of India to Sri Lanka. Representing DIMO were Mr. Rajeev Pandithage, Executive Director, Mr. Mahesh Karunaratne, Chief Operating Officer – Automotive Engineering Solutions, Mr. Sampath Kumarasinghe, Deputy General Manager – TATA Commercial Vehicle Sales , Mr. Abhijeet Das Sharma, Regional Manager – SAARC, Mr. Aleemuddin Sayed, Country Head – Sri Lanka & Bhutan, and Mr. Rahib Khan, Deputy General Manager – International Business – Sri Lanka & Bhutan represented TATA Motors, India.
The fleet was granted by the Government of India as a gesture of continued friendship and cooperation between India and Sri Lanka, further strengthening longstanding bilateral ties while supporting public service operations within the country.
The fleet of 134 TATA Xenon Yodha cabs has been deployed to support Sri Lanka Police operations across the Northern Province. The vehicles are expected to improve transportation efficiency, accessibility to remote terrains, and day-to-day policing, patrol, and community service operations within the region.
The TATA Xenon Yodha was selected for its proven reliability and suitability for demanding operational environments. Equipped with a powerful diesel engine, heavy-duty suspension, high ground clearance, strong payload capacity, and a durable chassis, the vehicle is designed to perform efficiently across diverse terrain conditions. Its spacious cabin, utility-focused design, fuel efficiency, and low operating costs further make it well-suited for police and public service operations. The vehicles were customized to meet the operational requirements of the Sri Lanka Police, including specially designed canopies and dual longitudinal seating arrangements to facilitate the efficient transportation of personnel.
