The public can now use the online passport appointment system.
Prior reservations can now be made by the public using the official website: https://eservices.immigration.gov.lk/MakeAppointments/
The program will allow you to schedule a one-day or regular appointment to get a passport.
For the convenience of passport applicants registering to apply for passports, the revised technique has been in place since today (November 06).
The Department of Immigration and Emigration’s guidelines for passport applicants are as follows:
1. Consequently, in order to apply for Sri Lankan passports, a previous registration must be performed via the website http://www.immigration.gov.lk starting on November 6, 2024. Applications from those who have registered since then will be accepted starting on Wednesday, 04.12.2024.
2. Consequently, up until Tuesday, 03.12.2024, passport applications may be submitted in the order of dates derived using the current system.
3. Using the new system, new applicants, those who currently have a passport, and those whose passports have been lost can all register.
4. Both One Day Service and Normal Service are eligible for the preceding registration process.
5. The applicant must provide their National Identity Card number when submitting their passport applications, and they must have a valid mobile phone number and a valid National Identity Card number in order to register.
6. When registering minors younger than 16 to receive passports, the parent’s National Identity Card number must be entered.
7. After completing the aforementioned prerequisites, you can register for One Day Service and Normal Service by going to www.immigration.gov.lk and selecting the “Book an appointment for a passport” option while carrying the photo receipt you received from an authorized photo studio.
8. You will receive an SMS with the application submission date if your registration is successful. In accordance with the appropriate SMS that includes the originals of the application and other related paperwork, you must visit the location you have chosen (the head office and the regional offices of Matara, Kandy, Kurunegala, and Vavuniya) by 12:00 pm on the day you have been reserved. You will forfeit your reserved opportunity and have to re-register for a different day if you are unable to attend on the scheduled date.
9. Please be advised that if you do not schedule a time and date to visit the department, you will not be allowed to pick up your passport.
