In order to boost bilateral commerce and promote local food and beverage items, such as king coconut water and products made from mushrooms, in the KSA market, a Sri Lankan trade team traveled to Saudi Arabia.
The Sri Lankan Embassy in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia (KSA) and the Sri Lanka Export Development Board (EDB) coordinated this.
Eight F&B processors and exporters from Sri Lanka were part of the mission, which the EDB stated aimed “to establish business linkages, enrich the product mix in the Saudi market, and explore opportunities for collaboration and investment.”
Promotions included canned and processed foods, dehydrated fruits and vegetables, items made from coconut kernels, spices with added value, king coconut water, sugar-free fruit juices and drinks, products made from mushrooms, and coffee.
The program included B2B meetings and matchmaking sessions led by the Asharqia Chamber in Dammam, the Riyadh Chamber of Commerce, and the Federation of Saudi Chambers.
According to the EDB, the group from Sri Lanka gained “a deeper understanding of Saudi Arabian market dynamics, paving the way for increased exports and sustainable business growth.”
Knowledge-sharing events, hypermarket study trips, and factory visits also occurred.
According to the EDB, Sri Lankan exporters gained firsthand knowledge of consumer preferences and market trends through field visits to well-known retail establishments including Tamimi Market, Lulu Hypermarket, and Almarai.
