The proposed train fare hike which was to be in effect from midnight Thursday (24) has been temporarily blocked by the Transport Ministry. According to the Transport Minister, Dilum Amunugama, the proposed price hike has been released to the media by the Railway department prior to being approved by the Ministry. However, the Ministry plans to come up with some revisions to the price structure in order to cover the increased fuel cost.
