Sri Lanka’s tourism earning rose by 6.7% Year-on-Year to $161.8 million in January this year compared to $151.7 million recorded a year ago, according to the Central Bank of Sri Lanka (CBSL).
However, tourism earnings didn’t increase in consistent with the tourist arrival. The country welcomed 102,545 tourists last month which is a nearly 25 percent increase from a year ago.
In Rupee terms, tourism earnings grew by a record 58.7 Year-on-Year basis to Rs.91.9 million due to sharp depreciation of Rupee seen during last year..
