SLAAQP hosts National Convention on Quality and Productivity

The Sri Lanka Association for the Advancement of Quality and Productivity (SLAAQP) will host the National Convention on Quality and Productivity (NCQP), at the Mount Lavinia Hotel, Colombo, bringing together more than 2,000 delegates for what is set to be the largest edition of the convention to date.

The event will showcase the achievements of 100+ organisations and 450+ improvement teams from a wide range of industries and institutions, with over 450 project presentations taking place across 30+ dedicated presentation rooms. NCQP 2026 will provide participants with a unique opportunity to learn from, benchmark against and celebrate some of Sri Lanka’s most impactful continuous improvement initiatives.

“Held under the theme ‘People Driven Quality and Productivity for a Resilient Sri Lanka’, NCQP 2026 reinforces the vital role people play in driving organisational excellence, innovation and long-term competitiveness.

This theme reflects our belief that sustainable national progress can only be achieved when people at every level are empowered to identify opportunities, solve problems and contribute meaningfully to continuous improvement,” said Sakunthala Goonethilleke, Chairperson of NCQP 2026.

“Over the years, NCQP has grown into one of Sri Lanka’s most important platforms for organisations committed to excellence, continuous improvement and productivity advancement. By bringing together participants from the private sector, public institutions, educational establishments and community-based organisations, NCQP 2026 demonstrates that quality and productivity are not limited to one sector, but are essential drivers of national development,” said Sajeewa Ranasinghe, President of SLAAQP.

Established in 1996 as the successor to the Quality Circle Association of Sri Lanka, which was founded in 1989, the Sri Lanka Association for the Advancement of Quality and Productivity (SLAAQP) is a non-profit organisation committed to advancing quality standards, operational efficiency, and business excellence across Sri Lanka.

For more than three decades, SLAAQP has championed the national quality and productivity movement by equipping professionals and organisations with globally recognised methodologies, including Quality Control Circles (QCC), Kaizen, Lean Six Sigma, Total Quality Management (TQM) and other continuous improvement practices. Through flagship initiatives such as the Ayano TQM Excellence Award, the Green Productivity Awards and its annual international research conference, SLAAQP has helped build a nationwide platform for recognising excellence, sharing knowledge, and encouraging organisations to adopt structured approaches to improvement.

As a globally connected organisation, SLAAQP maintains strong partnerships with leading international bodies, including the Asian Network for Quality (ANQ), the International Convention on Quality Control Circles (ICQCC), the Union of Japanese Scientists and Engineers (JUSE), and the Dr. Mikel J. Harry Six Sigma Management Institute Inc. (SSMI) of the United States.
