A high-level delegation from Sri Lanka headed by the State Minister of Money & Capital Market and State Enterprise Reforms H E Ajith Nivard Cabraal visited Lulu regional headquarters recently.

Dr. Mohamed Althaf, Director of Lulu Group, welcomed the Minister and his team. Detailed discussions on boosting trade relations between Lulu Group and Sri Lanka were held during the visit. Sri Lanka has a wide variety of fruits, vegetables, and various commodities, and the Lulu Group has long-standing business relations with Sri Lanka spanning two decades.

LuLu Group had opened new world-class sourcing, food processing, and export unit in Sri Lanka in 2017 to boost its sourcing operations and bring in high-quality products for its large chain of hypermarkets.

Situated ideally in the Katanayake Export Processing Zone near Colombo International Airport, the state-of-the-art facility primarily focuses on sourcing, processing, storing, packaging, and exporting fruits, vegetables, and commodities from Sri Lanka to various Lulu operations around the world.

It was in line with the Group’s ongoing strategy to set up its sourcing and food processing units worldwide to ensure uninterrupted supply and competitive pricing by eliminating intermediaries. LuLu Group has similar sourcing centres in 22 countries, including the UK, USA, Europe, Turkey, Vietnam, Thailand, China, and Africa.
