The daily turnover of the Colombo Stock Exchange (CSE) fell to Rs 1.89 billion today, the lowest value seen so far during the year.
The benchmark stock index ASPI ended down 0.51 percent at 7,438.13.
February marked the index’s worst month since March 2020, following a short-lived surge in January. The turnover has been declining gradually, thereafter.
The Hồ Chí Minh Stock Exchange today overtook CSE as the best-performing stock exchange in Asia. In January, CSE emerged as the world’s best-performing stock exchange for a brief period.
Foreign investors were net sellers on Monday, offloading shares worth Rs 654.6 million ($3.37 million).
